The hotels I recommend are on Hilltop, or nearby, although there are others in town that are nice, too.

Here are my usual recommendations:

Hampton Inn is supposed to be one of the nicest in town and not a bad buy.

a bit more upscale is the

Also nice, on Bechelli, is Hilton Garden Inn 5050 Bechelli Lane 530-226-5111

Avoid anything on Market Street, those are the hotels that cater to the nearly homeless…
